Karatsu-yaki

Oribe-yaki

Tousyougama

Toushyou Fukuoka was trained in Akazu-yaki pottery in Seto (Aichi Prefecture) and is currently making Oribe-yaki pottery in Kumamoto Prefecture.

He utilizes various glazing techniques to create unique designs such as Oribe glaze, ashen glaze using plant ash or straw ash and more.

Oribe ware has a beautiful deep green color that glistens and shines differently depending on the piece and its placement under the light.

Combining Akazu-yaki's amber glaze style with Oribe's deep green gives Toushyou Fukuoka 's pottery a strong presence and makes it a delightful statement piece.

Shinoheigama

Pottery made by a couple in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture.

They are trained in various pottery styles such as Arita, Seto, Hasami and the Kyoto-style. By combining various techniques from each region, they are able to create their own unique pottery.

Especially charming are the hand drawn akea (red designs) and pugs on the children's pottery pieces made by the wife.
