This is a Kintsugi SDGs jewelry piece made by upcycling cracked or chipped Kyo ware / Kiyomizu ware.
We reuse ceramics from Fukuiku-gama, a pottery studio in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, and restore them into accessories by applying Kintsugi.
The concept of the work is to allow people to feel nature and long-standing Japanese traditions close to them, and to give them new possibilities by transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future.
These calm, pale orange-pink ceramic shards feature white patterns, and I have combined them with transparent Citrine natural stones using Kintsugi. It is a luxurious piece of Kintsugi jewelry adorned with five linked freshwater pearls, each about 6 to 7 mm in size.
With a dainty and delicate image and calm, elegant colors, even with many white pearls, it is not overly flashy and is easy to match with any outfit, making it very versatile. The freshwater pearls sway as you walk, creating a bright and elegant look from your ears.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the shards, so the gold shines even from the side, creating an elegant impression.
Please wear them for party scenes or outings when you want to elevate your outfit.
Length: Ceramic shard only: 16 x 16 mm, Length from shard to bottom of pearls: 50 mm
Hardware: Surgical stainless steel earrings (Hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Although made of ceramic, it is lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As this is a unique, one-of-a-kind accessory, I believe it is also ideal for gifts. Please consider it as a gift for your loved ones.
*We will ship the item shown in the photos. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be produced to order. In that case, please note that there will be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the ceramic shards and natural stones. Basically, these are sold as one-of-a-kind items with no made-to-order production.
*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that joins cracked or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work is created using a modern "simplified Kintsugi" technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi made with raw tree sap (Hon-urushi), the bonding itself uses adhesive.
The Kintsugi parts use lacquer (modern paint made by a manufacturer, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), and UV resin is also used for reinforcement.
