This work is a collaboration with Hakkazen, a studio that creates ceramics in Imari City, Saga Prefecture.These stylish ceramic shards, decorated with brushstroke patterns, are uniquely designed with Kintsugi.

Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the ceramic shards as well, so the gold stands out even from the side, creating a refined look.

*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that joins cracked or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work is created using a modern "simplified Kintsugi" technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi made with raw tree sap (Hon-urushi), the bonding itself uses adhesive. The Kintsugi parts use lacquer (modern paint) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), and UV resin is also used for reinforcement.
