This is a Kintsugi SDGs barrette made by upcycling Arita ware that is no longer in use.

We reuse ceramics that are cracked, chipped, or no longer used, and restore them into accessories by applying Kintsugi.

The concept of the work is to allow people to feel nature and long-standing Japanese traditions close to them, and to give them new possibilities by transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future.

Centering on a lovely flower-patterned ceramic shard, we have combined it with refreshing white Karatsu ware and pink morganite.

Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the shards, so the gold shines even from the side, creating an elegant impression.

It is easy to match with both casual and formal outfits.As it is a large-sized barrette, it can be used to hold all of your hair together.

*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that joins cracked or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work is created using a modern "simplified Kintsugi" technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi made with raw tree sap (Hon-urushi), the bonding itself uses adhesive.The Kintsugi parts use lacquer (modern paint made by a manufacturer, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), and UV resin is also used for reinforcement.
