SDGs Obidome (Sash Clip) made of upcycled pottery by Tosho Fukuoka, a ceramic artist from Kumamoto Prefecture, using Kintsugi.

This accessory is created by reusing cracked, chipped, or no longer used ceramics, which are then restored and redesigned using the Kintsugi technique.

The concept of this work is to allow people to feel close to nature and long-standing Japanese traditions, giving new life and possibilities to pieces by transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future.

This piece features deep green ceramic shards paired with Dalmatian Jasper and Carnelian.

Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the shards, so the gold shines even when viewed from the side, creating a refined look.

*"Kintsugi" is a traditional Japanese repair technique that connects cracked or chipped ceramics using lacquer and gold powder. This work is created using a modern "simplified Kintsugi" technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi made with raw tree sap (Hon-urushi), the bonding itself uses adhesive.The Kintsugi parts are made using lacquer (paint manufactured by a specialist, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), and UV resin is also used for reinforcement.
